Midnight Rider Solo's VP 1-24-2007

I had this bug lately, bored, idea's running around my little head about soloing. Needed a challenge. Been vping and cfoing the last week as I pretty much depleted my unites and SOS's doing 2 man coins and A DA's with Scarlet. I had NO desire to solo so I wasted a good majority of them!

Got lucky that morning and got 3 toon-up unites, 2 max and 1 40. I had an 80 and 2 10 already. I only had 2 bessies, 2 flippys, 1 franz, but had a bunch of Moe's and LOM's, and Clara which I wasn't really relying on, oh and 1 madam chuckle which I had wanted to exchange for a daffy, but no luck.

So I started looking at what other people ACTUALLY used for their solo's... I was itching to go.

I had 5 petes, a bunch of gag up squirt's, throws and a couple gag up all's so figured maybe I could rely on good fashioned gags for what I was lacking in SOS's. I was determined not to use any level 7's (because Calvin says that's cheating lol) so they were out.

I rebooted, fed and scratched my doodle and decided I was going to give it a go.

The cogs actually were a blast. The only SOS I used was a pete to restock at the end and that horrid madam chuckle. My lovely doodle did a fantastic job and kept me tooned the rest of the time.

I started using as much squirt as possible knowing I was probably going to use a gag up. I got lucky and squirted and dropped my way through the first half of the cogs. Once I gagged up squirt I switched to throw and once again when I had done all I could do with the throw I had I used a gag up throw. When I ran out of cakes and was very low on lure I called pete who only gave me one blue magnet!!!!!!

I kept 2 or 3 small cogs with me most of the way. Amazingly the cog half of the battle finished much sooner than I expected. I ended up with 4 small cogs so I lured them. Having just called pete only a few cogs ago my gags were pretty full so I doodled till I was full and then used up seltzer bottles and fruit pies to free up some room for lure. Since I had 3 gag up lures and 5 LOM's I was not overly concerned about wasting so I gagged up my lure, got some blue magnets (just in case) and killed the last cog.

Unites used:

Gag up squirt
Gag up throw
Gag up lure
SOS Used:

Pete
Madam Chuckle (ugh)

The skele's were actually a lot of fun too. What a challenge trying to figure out the best way to get rid of them and take the least damage. Once again I relied a lot on the gags I came with combined with, 1 gag up throw, some SOS's and it was done before I knew it! My great little doodle helped keep me tooned along with one max toonup and 1 flippy. I really did not take as much damage as I thought I would! Maybe I got lucky. I got a couple lines of 8's which I fogged, lured tooned and fogged again. Easy. I tried to hit a lone 12 then drop a piano on him. That worked pretty well too. My birthday cake is organic so that took care of 8 or 9 11's.

Now we come to pies, well anyone who knows me knows I have a severe gear avoidance issue, so this is the part I was worried about. I have also been lagging terrible in the vp lately which doesn't help. I had been vping all week trying to really practice keeping far enough back that I had room to move forward when gears were being thrown at me. Did that practice pay off, well maybe lol. I had a terrible time getting him down the ramp and at one point he started going back up and he got MAD!

I tried changing views so I could see him better but that messed me up even more lol, missed a few jumps, got creamed, but got him down the ramp finally. At that point I used a toon up unite since I had extra and was seriously starting to freak... once he was down the first ramp I got out of that horrid view and it was pretty much smooth sailing from there. I got out of there with 54 lp's (woot).

Overall it was a lot of fun and a great challenge. Did I need more practice at pies, yep, but I didn't care, I wanted to go Special thanks to Calvin who spent a lot of time giving me tips and encouragment. Also a big thanks to Kev and Mary (and Calvin again) for our little training run lol, that was fun!
