This years Toonfest was in Orlando which is about 85 miles from me so we decided to go. It had been overcast and rainy all week but it was sunny and HOT that day.
We get there and check in and discover we have to do 9 toontasks. The prize for each toontask is a magnet and when all 9 are put together they make a toontown picture (ok not great but kinda cool). Each toontask required you pay beans to be able to do the task so we set off to the trolly games to earn some beans. These were basically like carnival games and the beans were actually marbles. Funny thing was, the staff seemed to be not to into the whole "bean" thing and kept calling them marbles. I had to correct them numerous times and remind them they were jellybeans! Of course they just laughed at me.
The toontasks took place on the mini golf course at the hotel. Most were golfing but some were finding various people and clues. Some you had to stand on one foot, or wear toon gloves, hypno goggles. The most remarkable thing to me was the fact that they actually had you running as much as they do in the game, and nothing was in order. No real maps to speak of either, and it was HOT!
The courses were hilly and of course like a dope I wore flip-flops which kept slipping off my feet so after about 4 trips (and I means "trips") across the greens the shoes ended up off my feet. The staff was not allowed to help, you were on your own. I don't know how many times we walked around that course, then back to the start to hq, and back again. Too many? Did I mention it was HOT??!!??
They had computers set up to race in goofy speedway. Charactures, photos with Disney characters. They had air brushed tattoos. I got a green dog in honor of Calvin, lol! The food was amazing I will have to admit. All you can eat and tons of it. I will say for the 10 bucks it cost to get it it was SO worth it!
We ended up doing 5 of the 9 toontasks. Yes I know, I failed miserably, but did I meantion it was HOT? The dev's revealed what was coming soon and showed a lot of old and new concept pictures. They would not give a date for boss hq but did say there would be a new level of cogs, it would lead off of the new playground which will be connected to Donald's Dock, and we would be quite suprised.
Fishing, their suggestion was to make sure you are at a pond where that fish resides and keep fishing and you will get it - I know, throw me a bone - lame! They did however say they were going to make fishing easier, someday. More phrases, bigger closets, putt putt golf with 3 more lp boosts (we can all say OUCH now!).
All said and done it was a fun day. Here's a few pic's.
